One of the many challenges of small business is to strike a balance of internal resources vs. outsourced expertise. Our goal as Fixators has always been to serve our clients with the most depth of knowledge and experience, while keeping a cost-effective model. After careful assessment and consideration, we’ve decided to go for it and bring some of these critical services in house to grow and strengthen our offering to our invaluable clients (We picked up many clues from client feedback provided in response to our survey earlier this fall).
So, all this adds up to some pretty big news:
On January 1, 2018, Fixation Marketing is expanding our resources through a merger with FORT Group, a marketing services agency with significant in-house capabilities and staff.
It’s been incredibly exciting to see this merger come to fruition because it’s been in discussion for a long time. Over the last few years, we’ve weighed multiple options and decided on the right partner, one that would add capabilities in all the right areas—media, digital, web development, video—but still allow Fixation to run as it always has, with emphasis on strategy and service.
Fixation Marketing remains Fixation Marketing, in name, brand and culture.
It’s been so gratifying to watch the staffs of these two long-established and respected companies meet and begin collaborating, fully embracing the potential of a well-resourced larger organization and all they can learn from each other.
As for me, after almost 25 years at Fixation, this business owner is embracing this evolution. I’ll continue to serve Fixation in a senior advisor role that allows me to focus on client relationships, business development and a successful transition, and day-to-day operations are now in the experienced hands of Julie Parsons. Julie has served as vice president of Fixation for 4+ years and previously served on the association side for nearly 20 years, most recently as a VP at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions and on the leadership team at Solar Energy Trade Shows. As vice president and managing director, Julie will run the DC office and interface with the New Jersey office of FORT Group, while also doing what she does best: provide sage strategic marketing guidance to clients.
This much is true, all the things our clients value about Fixation will stay the same. But with this merger, our expanded team will be able to offer more marketing resources that we know clients need.
