Some things in life are meant to be.

Long before I joined the Fixation team, my personal and professional life intersected with the agency: as a former client and during my early days as a food blogger.

Shortly after getting married, my husband and I started a food blog focusing on eating in DC, Maryland and Virginia, as well as covering food events we attended. One of them happened to be the Specialty Food Association’s (SFA) Fancy Food Show when it was held in DC back in 2011. I was in awe of the show’s fun energy and range of innovative products and food services. Little did I know, eight years later I would work with SFA on marketing strategy and tactics to bring attendees to the very same event.

For the past several years, we have been supporting SFA, marketing its two shows through direct mail, digital campaigns and emarketing. We provide creative design, copywriting and a host of other services to help grow the shows and service members.

I am about to attend my fourth Fancy Food Show this weekend (fifth if you count the one as a blogger), where we will manage all on-site social media. Each time I’m blown away by the multiple football fields worth of new trends and flavors on display, and the foodie in me loves to share fun finds on Instagram with my DMV Dining followers.

It’s a rare treat to combine personal passions with a day job, but I get to do that every day at Fixation. I wonder what this year’s everything-bagel marshmallow will be. Follow @fixationmarketing and @DMVDining to find out.
