As we continue to work with our clients and partners on necessary transitions and changes, we are also (like many of you) exploring new ways to learn, grow and be entertained.
In the spirit of being in this together, we would like to share a selection of what Fixation team members are enjoying between conference calls and neighborhood walks.
News, commentary, trends
Our COVID trackers like to keep up with the maps and stats on Johns Hopkins COVID-19 Resource Center and Centers for Disease Control. Meanwhile, the right dose of news is coming from the Skimm and The Hustle, with business coverage from Forbes and Fast Company. We’re enjoying a cultural look at the current condition on NY Times Smarter Living and the Make Me Smart podcast.
To stay in fighting shape, our team is liking the range of offerings Peloton has in addition to its spin classes and free at-home workouts from OrangeTheory Home Workouts. For a moment of zen, the Ten Percent Happier Live daily sessions and guided meditations from the Calm app are keeping us centered and sane. In the learn-something-new category, we are exploring free courses and finding ways to hone skills through Mediabistro and LinkedIn Learning. When looking for ways to help during the crisis, we are finding a variety of ways to give to those who need a little extra help right now.
Our industry and marketing
As marketers for associations and their trade shows and programs, we have been glued to the Associations Now (ASAE) online newsletter and the Trade Show News Network blog and news pages. From the broader marketing world, the Content Marketing Institute, Adweek and American Marketing Association have been dishing out excellent webinars and resources to help us polish our skills and serve our clients during this time. Our interactive experts are checking Really Good Emails, General Assembly and Litmus for up-to-the-minute best practices and connecting with like-minded professionals on the Email Geeks Slack channel.
We are enjoying some great COVID-free content to keep us entertained and relaxed. We learn new things from Stuff You Should Know and NPR’s Invisibilia, while getting our laughs from comedians doing cool stuff on Instagram, including Mike Birbiglia’s “Tip Your Waitstaff,” benefit, Small Doses and the Parks and Recreation reunion. We very much appreciate a good dose of hope and joy from Jon Krasinski’s SomeGoodNews broadcast and the Good News Dashboard. Our resident gourmands are getting food inspo from Skinnytaste, Ina Garten’s Instagram and Food Heaven (among many many others). For a range of culture, celebrity, entertainment news we’re checking in with Cosmopolitan, Mashable, The Read podcast and NYT’s Still Processing podcast. Our creatives are loving Creative Mornings for inspiration and Apartment Therapy for domicile envy and ideas for fun interiors.
